Writing Effective Questions

Be Specific

  • ✅ "What is the maturity date for the Series A bonds?"
  • ❌ "Tell me about the bonds"

Provide Context

  • ✅ "According to the 2024 Official Statement, what are the debt service requirements?"
  • ❌ "What are the requirements?"

Ask One Thing at a Time

  • ✅ "What is the bond rating?"
  • ✅ "Who is the trustee?"
  • ❌ "What is the bond rating, trustee, and maturity date?"

Tips for Better Results

Build Context Gradually

Start with broad questions, then drill down:

  1. "What documents do I have about the water system?"
  2. "What is the water system's current capacity?"
  3. "What capital improvements are planned for the water system?"

Reference Specific Documents

If you know which document contains the answer:

  • "In the Engineering Report, what are the projected costs?"
  • "According to the Financial Statements, what is the net revenue?"

Ask Follow-Up Questions

The AI maintains conversation context:

  • You: "What is the total debt?"
  • AI: "The total debt is $45 million..."
  • You: "When does it mature?"
  • AI: "The debt matures in 2030..." (understands "it" refers to the debt)

  • Cross-reference multiple documents
  • Consult with subject matter experts
